Walking with Elephants: A unique experience with Project ELE

On March 7th, Noticias Ambientales will take part in a unique event: we will walk with elephants alongside Nicolás Pauls, the Fundación Franz Weber, and the film production company ECOSYSMEDIA. The best part is that anyone from anywhere in the world can be part of this experience through a live stream on proyectoELE.org

Nearly a decade ago, Proyecto ELE was born with the mission of freeing elephants captive in zoos in Argentina and relocating them to the elephant sanctuary in Brazil. Since then, we have witnessed the exciting departure of Mara, Pocha, and Guillermina, who now enjoy a life in freedom. Now it’s time for Pupy and Kenya, who will embark on their journey very soon. And finally, there’s Tamy, an Asian elephant still living in Mendoza and who will be the last to leave Argentine soil. With their departure, the project hopes to declare the country free of elephants in captivity.

These majestic animals possess extraordinary intelligence, sensitivity, and social life, but captivity imposes deep suffering on them. In the sanctuary, they undergo remarkable transformations, both physical and emotional: they lose their fears and stereotypies, heal their feet and digestive system through movement, and find the tranquility that only nature can provide them.

The event Walking with Elephants will not only showcase images of these relocations and the stories of their protagonists, but will also be a unique opportunity to reflect and learn about ourselves, through the life teachings shown by elephants in their wisdom.

The event includes a live reading of the sixth and final episode of the ELEcast, a podcast that has explored topics related to elephants, such as memory, matriarchy, politics, law, or film, always from the perspective of these giants.

On the website proyectoELE.org, you can leave your email to join the herd, receive a notification when the streaming starts, and become part of the project.
