During a joint operation carried out in the town of Esquina, the Corrientes Police rescued wild owl chicks and parrot chicks kept in captivity.
The Rural and Ecological Security Directorate, in collaboration with Natural Resources, acted at a residence located on Sánchez Blanca Balestra Street in the southern provincial city.
Birds Found in Vulnerable Conditions
At the property, owned by a 38-year-old woman, four owl chicks and twelve parrot chicks in vulnerable conditions were rescued.
The possession of these wild animals in captivity is prohibited by law.
The birds will be handed over to the Aguara Conservation Center
Administrative Actions and Bird Care
Authorities carried out the necessary administrative procedures and transferred the animals to a suitable place for immediate care.
The specimens will be handed over to the Aguara Conservation Center, a specialized entity in the rehabilitation and reintegration of wild fauna. The Aguara Foundation will be responsible for evaluating the health of the birds and determining their final destination, either their reintegration into the natural environment or their permanence in appropriate safeguard conditions.
About the Aguara Center
The main function of the Center is the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of native wild species that are injured or at risk, which arrive as a result of operations against wildlife trafficking, poaching, pet keeping, and animal abuse; with the purpose of reintroducing them to their natural environment.
The Center has a stable collection of animals that, due to their conditions in captivity, cannot be returned to their habitat. They play a fundamental role educating and raising awareness among visitors through their history, emphasizing that their exhibition is not for recreational purposes.
