With an investment of 90 million dollars, the company specialized in sustainable energy solutions, Genneia, inaugurated the Malargüe I Solar Park, marking its first photovoltaic development in the province of Mendoza and the fourth at a national level.

Furthermore, the company announced an ambitious additional project with an investment of 150 million dollars.

The Malargüe I Park, with an installed capacity of 90 MW, is part of the transformation process of the energy sector in Mendoza, promoting sustainable supply to large industrial consumers and strengthening the Renewable Energy Futures Market (Mater), as stated by the company in a press release.

An event of high impact and a model of sustainable growth

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent representatives of Genneia, including Jorge Brito, one of the main shareholders; César Rossi, president; and Bernardo Andrews, CEO of the company. Provincial authorities such as Governor Alfredo Cornejo and the Minister of Energy and Environment, Jimena Latorre, along with national and local officials, were also present.

During the event, Brito stated, “We are proud to inaugurate this park in Malargüe, which reaffirms our commitment to growth. We are currently investing 400 million dollars in Mendoza to build three solar parks, adding 420 MW of installed capacity to the system.”

Additionally, he highlighted that by 2026, the company projects to exceed 1.4 billion dollars in renewable installed capacity, with eight wind farms and six solar farms distributed across five provinces. Brito emphasized that mining will be one of the main benefiting sectors, supporting the energy objectives and sustainable development of both Mendoza and the country.

The Malargüe I Solar Park covers 312 hectares and is equipped with over 160,000 state-of-the-art bifacial solar panels, capable of capturing both direct and reflected solar radiation, increasing its efficiency by 10%. Furthermore, the modules are mounted on solar trackers that adjust their position according to the movement of the sun, thus maximizing energy generation.

The project generated 280 indirect jobs during its construction peak, significantly boosting the economy and social fabric of the region.

New projects in San Rafael and Salta drive renewable energy expansion

During the event, Genneia announced the development of a new solar park in San Rafael with a capacity of 150 MW, requiring an investment of 150 million dollars. This project will complement the Anchoris Solar Park, with 180 MW of capacity, currently under construction in Luján de Cuyo. With these advancements, the company aims to reach a total investment of 400 million dollars in the province of Mendoza by the year 2026.

Governor Cornejo emphasized, “The inauguration of this solar park demonstrates the potential of Mendoza as a strategic hub in renewable energies. Through energy diversification, we are promoting sustainable growth and development, and collaboration between the private sector and the State is key to this progress.”

On the other hand, Genneia also announced a new initiative in the province of Salta with an investment exceeding 400 million dollars.

This project involves the construction of a high-voltage line that will connect the electric grid with mining projects in the area, enabling an increase in green lithium production. Likewise, the generation of energy for copper projects under development in the region is being evaluated.
