“Río Negro unveils new public building that generates its own energy”

A new public building in Río Negro is already generating its own energy.

This initiative is part of the sustainability strategy promoted by the Secretariat of Energy and Environment, which had previously implemented a similar system in its headquarters, making it the first public building with self-generation in the province.

The system, installed in the Transcomahue building in Cipolletti, has a capacity of 30 kilowatts and is composed of approximately 60 solar panels.

“The goal is to reduce consumption at the operations and energy dispatch center. During low-demand hours, the surplus will be injected into the electrical grid under the distributed generation system,” explained Federico Hernández, head of the Isolated Generation area of the company.

Operation of the system and distributed generation

The system started operating in December, after installation by the company 4 Elementos from Cipolletti. Currently, procedures are being completed for Transcomahue to be registered as a generating user and be able to officially inject its surplus into the electrical grid.

“The system design allows to cover between 50 and 70% of the building’s consumption. If the administrative offices are relocated to this property and demand increases, an increase in power will be evaluated,” detailed Hernández. The operational headquarters houses about 40 workers from areas such as warehouses, engineering, projects, and maintenance of lines and transformer stations.

Río Negro and its commitment to energy efficiency

With this new addition, the Government of Río Negro reinforces its commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability.

This project adds public infrastructure that reduces environmental impact and optimizes the use of electrical resources in the province.

Generating your own energy at home

Generating energy at home offers multiple benefits. Here are some of the most outstanding advantages:

Economic savings on bills

The most obvious benefit of generating energy at home is economic savings. With an initial investment in equipment like solar panels, you can significantly reduce your electricity bills. Once the installation is up and running, the free electricity generated offsets the initial expense and, in the long run, results in significant savings.

In addition, by studying your needs, the installation of solar panels, for example, can be tailored to your consumption habits, generating the energy you need for your daily life.

Energetic independence and sustainability

By having your own energy source, you can cope with power outages and reduce your dependence on the electrical grid. This is especially valuable in areas with frequent power failures. By creating renewable energy, you are also contributing to sustainable development, an aspect that is increasingly important.

Environmental protection

By producing your own energy from endless sources, you are preventing the emission of carbon dioxide CO2 into the atmosphere from the production of energy from non-renewable resources such as fossil fuels.

With these practices, you will be contributing to achieving the goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by the year 2030.
