During 2024, the most efficient wind farm in the country, on average, according to the ranking by the Comisión Administradora del Mercado Eléctrico Mayorista de Argentina (CAMESA), was Parque Arauco.

It ranked in the top ten consistently and in January it obtained the first position, with excellent results throughout the year.

It climbed positions until the end of the year, ranking third in October and second in November and December.

The most efficient wind farm: CAMESA ranking

The ranking carried out by CAMESA on a monthly basis includes the 67 wind farms in Argentina.

fundamental en la energía eólica Wind energy.

The organization compiles a report every month on the performance of variable renewable generation plants (wind and solar) evaluating the historical evolution by plant and technology.

This includes load factors, monthly average generation, installed capacity, renewable energy participation, variables in meeting demand.

The report also includes a revenue projection for four months (new plants connecting to the SADI). It also considers an analysis of the daily generation behavior in the month, highlighting the resource variability and equipment performance.

CAMESA uses these indicators to ensure the optimal performance of renewable projects and their contribution to the wholesale electricity market.

What is considered

The figures are clear performance indicators, combining the technical capacity of the equipment, decisions on which technology to apply, contractor selection, and the implementation of methodologies and procedures at each stage of development that operates Parque Arauco.

The Southwest of Buenos Aires, fundamental in wind energy

The wind energy potential in Buenos Aires.

The Southwest of Buenos Aires continues to be a key player in wind energy, housing 18 of the 69 wind farms across the country.

In October 2024, these projects injected 330 GWh of electricity, equivalent to 23.1% of the total renewable energy nationwide. Despite the significance of this figure, it represents an 8.7% setback compared to the same month of the previous year.

Despite the slowdown, a report from the Regional Center for Economic Studies of Bahía Blanca, Argentina highlights that the province of Buenos Aires remains fundamental in wind energy on a national scale.
