Residents of **Bariloche** have recorded **videos and images** showing the presence of **untreated waste** flowing directly into **Lake Nahuel Huapi**, sparking a strong [environmental outcry](https://noticiasambientales.com/medio-ambiente/reclamo-por-la-gestion-de-la-hidrovia-del-parana-exigen-una-evaluacion-ambiental/).
According to information shared by El Cordillerano, the waste comes from a pipe connected to a **hotel located on Avenida Juan Manuel de Rosas at 600**, without any prior treatment.
The community has expressed repeated complaints about these incidents, which **cause significant environmental damage**.
## Sewage spills in a tourist icon
The **Nahuel Huapi**, known for its crystal-clear waters and tourism appeal, has recently experienced **spills** that could be attributed to **waste from chemical toilets of motorhomes and untreated boats**, creating **visible stains on the lake surface**.
The **NGO [Árbol de Pie](https://www.instagram.com/arboldepie/)** reported in **February 2024** that certain practices, such as **emptying chemical toilets and saturated septic tanks**, severely damage the ecosystem.
## Concern about the lack of environmental control
Activists have pointed out that there is **no oversight from the Provincial Department of Water (DPA)** to **request urgent inspections**, nor a clear protocol for the community to respond to polluting discharges.
“If we add these incidents to the pressure from real estate developments and the installation of marinas without connection to a treatment system, we will soon see signs saying **”no entry to the lake”**,” warned the NGO.
## An urgent call to action
Given the seriousness of the situation, environmental organizations insist on the **need to strengthen controls**, establish **prevention measures**, and ensure the **protection of Lake Nahuel Huapi**.
The demand is growing among residents and environmentalists, calling for **quick and effective responses** to prevent **irreversible damage to the ecosystem**.
