In Juana Koslay, San Luis, after a complaint, the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development and the legal team of the State Prosecutor’s Office recovered a neighborhood green space that showed signs of contamination. The municipality of Juana Koslay quickly contributed to its cleaning and the removal of waste.

The public space that was evacuated had been illegally occupied by a private individual who used it to store trucks, semitrailers, brick pallets, and various flammable waste, such as fuels. This situation represented a serious risk for the community due to the fire hazard and the environmental impact on the vegetation surrounding the neighborhood, and they recovered the green space.

The movement of machinery, the presence of engines, had turned the place and recovered green space into a dangerous area to walk through.

The neighbors of the Dupuy neighborhood in Juana Koslay had been reporting the encroachment of a public site where a private individual left trucks, trailers, brick pallets, and a large amount of flammable waste, such as oils and fuels for five years. “All of this was a danger due to the fire load it implied and the permanent risk that was very dangerous for the residents of the Dupuy neighborhood in Juana Koslay,” said Alex Simioli, head of the Environmental Monitoring, Control, and Inspection Area.

Given the repeated environmental complaints, inspections, and claims of the neighbors for over five years, a verification process was carried out. As a result of these actions, and in conjunction with the legal team of the State Prosecutor’s Office, which initiated the legal procedure that allowed the eviction and green space recovery.
