Irving Rafael Lili Madrigal, director of the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone of Solidaridad, mentioned that they plan to install machinery at **strategic points** on the beaches, as well as containers to speed up the collection and disposal of the **seaweed**.

## Joint initiatives to combat higher amounts of sargassum
At the end of November, the governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, held a working meeting with the Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat), Alicia Bárcena. During this meeting, joint strategies were analyzed regarding **environmental restoration**, territorial planning, biodiversity, and wildlife conservation.

It was agreed to work together to combat the sargassum problem with cutting-edge technology to keep the **beaches clean** for as long as possible.

The official also mentioned that they are seeking to mitigate the **environmental impact** and that the **waste generated from sargassum** can be used to create new products. He stated that they have enough staff, but if necessary, they will hire more.
