Nestled in Tigre, Argentina, a family with over 15 years of experience in plastic recovery and recycling has developed Easybrick, an innovative construction solution based on recycled plastic bricks.
This system addresses the environmental issue of plastic waste, solves the housing deficit, and optimizes efficiency in construction.
Evolution Towards Circular Economy
Originally, this SME manufactured polyethylene and PVC pipes, but 7 years ago they shifted their focus towards the circular economy. They started producing bricks with 100% recovered plastic and, in 2020, inaugurated their own plastic recycling plant. Out of the 150 tons they process monthly, approximately 90 tons are allocated to Easybrick, while the rest is sold as raw material to other manufacturers.
Types of Easybrick Bricks
- Standard brick: Weighs 1 kilogram, measures 30x15x15 cm, and 22 bricks are used per m² of wall.
- Medium brick: Weighs 550 grams, measures 15x15x15 cm, and 44 bricks are used per m² of wall.
- Ribbed brick: Similar to the standard brick but used for plumbing and electrical installations.
Sustainable Vision and Triple Impact
With a clear vision to build a more sustainable future, Easybrick promotes the circular economy and maximizes the use of available resources. Their construction system has a triple impact:
- Economic: Adds value to discarded material and generates economic savings.
- Environmental: Prevents plastic from ending up in landfills or open dumps.
- Social: Collaborates with cooperatives and NGOs, building homes efficiently and sustainably.
Innovation in Construction
Easybrick transforms plastic waste into lightweight, precise, and durable bricks. These bricks are assembled like Lego pieces, offering a simple and innovative construction system with excellent thermal insulation properties.
The polypropylene used in Easybrick bricks has an estimated lifespan of 1000 years, ensuring long-lasting constructions. With expansion plans in Paraguay, Chile, and Brazil, Easybrick aims to take its sustainable revolution beyond Argentina.
Futuristic Projects
In addition to bricks, Easybrick is starting to manufacture roofing tiles with recycled plastic and will soon offer construction courses for women, contributing to reducing the gender gap in the sector.
