During the event Colombiamar 2025, the Colombian state company COTECMAR presented its new Eco-friendly Boat, an innovative vessel with zero carbon emissions, designed for both military and civilian applications.
This project aims to meet the needs of the riverside communities in Colombia, promoting sustainable solutions for transportation and mobility on the country’s main river arteries.
Eco-friendly boat features
Among the technical specifications of the boat, its maximum speed of 18 knots, a length of 8.68 meters, and a draft of 0.32 meters stand out, making it ideal for rivers and shallow areas. It also has a range of 30 to 50 km at an economic speed of 12 knots.
It is designed to operate in shallow rivers, making it ideal for basins such as those of the Magdalena, Atrato, Orinoco, and Amazon.
Project objectives
- Sustainable Mobility: facilitating the transport of goods and people in riverside regions, while respecting the environment.
- Conservation of Water Resources: contributing to the preservation of river ecosystems and promoting the use of clean energies.
- Economic Strengthening: encouraging community access to technology to stimulate local economies. Promoting its commercialization in both the public and private sectors.

This project is the result of cooperation between universities and governmental entities, working to identify the specific needs of end users and offer practical solutions adapted to the local context.
