In Argentina, there are several types of natural wonders and different landscapes to observe and, therefore, to admire. An example of this is the Cañón del Ocre in the province of La Rioja. This place located in Famatina is almost 3,000 meters high in the mountain range that bears the same name as the town, so it can only be reached there by a 4×4 vehicle.
This canyon is a type of crevice with natural walls, crossed by the Yellow River, where you can observe a wide variety of colors and morphological characteristics, making this place considered one of the seven wonders of the province. This place is ideal for adventure and nature lovers, as it combines trails that descend the mountain and contact with nature.
To get there, it is advisable to hire a guide in Famatina or Chilecito, as the road can be confusing and difficult, since the mountain path is not marked, so those who are not familiar with it may get lost. For this reason, access is only suitable for 4×4 vehicles.
One thing to keep in mind is that the road winds through National Route 40 and Provincial Route 11, where valleys fade among the ochres, which are precisely the ones that give the canyon its name.
