In addition to the beaches on the Atlantic Coast, the summer season is also ideal for visiting the ecological reserves of Buenos Aires. The Province has areas where those who suffer the most from the heat can take refuge from urban life.

Additionally, in all cases, outdoor activities, camping, birdwatching, among others, are offered to be in full contact with nature.

Ecological reserves of Buenos Aires: three options to enjoy

1. Los Robles, Moreno

Los Robles is the reserve in Moreno. It covers an area of 300 hectares of planted forest in La Reja.

It is one of the most important protected areas along with Lake San Francisco and the Ingeniero Roggero Dam. The entrance fee is $2500 per person and children under 12 and retirees do not pay.

The most important routes that can be taken there are the Memoria and Ipacaá trails. It has a municipal nursery and another one with native flora species to visit for educational and reforestation purposes.

Among other summer activities, you can choose birdwatching in the morning and guided walks through the forest paths on weekends at 4 pm.

It also has a play area, sports courts, a wetland square, gastronomic patio, and a nature library.

It also has grills, for a fee, and even accommodation to spend the night.

2. Reserva Natural El Palomar, Morón

La Reserva Natural El Palomar has free admission, with hours from 9 am to 6:30 pm, from Wednesday to Sundays and holidays.

It covers 113 hectares and opened in September 2023. At the entrance, visitors can find part of the Arroyo Corvalán route.

Every Saturday in January there are guided tours from 4:30 pm to 6 pm and on Sunday the 26th, there will be a Birdwatching Initiation Workshop from 11 am to 12 pm.

There are circuits to contemplate the natural richness, areas for sports activities, and environmental proposals such as guided tours, workshops, environmental education activities, and squares with aerobic spaces.

3. Reserva Presidente Néstor Kirchner, in Hurlingham

It has 49 hectares with over 9,000 specimens of trees of 240 native and exotic species. Visitors can smell the eucalyptus and walk among cedars, oaks, and pines.

There are also tables to rest and workshops on visual arts, photography, and entrepreneur fairs.

You can visit from 10 am to 6 pm, on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. In case of bad weather, it is important to note that it closes.

Guided tours are at 4 pm and last about an hour. The space also offers five viewpoints (chilcal, grassland, lagoon, river, and ceibal) for flora and fauna watching.

It has three rest areas under the trees, hydration stations and also hot water spots through a solar water heater supply and bike racks.
