The hidden wonder of Chubut: a coastal destination with adventure and calm

Among the vast landscapes and infinite horizons of Patagonia, there is Camarones, a coastal destination in the province of Chubut.

In this corner of the world, time seems to stand still, allowing visitors to escape from urban hustle and bustle and find peace in its purest state.

Just a few kilometers from the town, the Cabo Dos Bahías Natural Reserve stretches out. It is a perfect setting where Magellanic penguins are the protagonists of a life without artifice.

Claudia Loyola, the mayor of Camarones, expresses it with pride: “It is an honor for us to have this reserve, which showcases the richness of our ecosystem and the importance of protecting it.”

The crystal-clear waters of the coast offer more than a spectacular view. Here, adventure and tranquility embrace through activities like kayaking along cliffs and diving in underwater landscapes that seem out of this world.

Camarones: echoes of the past and unique celebrations

Camarones not only offers stunning postcards, but also a rich history. Part of the childhood of the former Argentine president, Juan Domingo Perón, is preserved in the Perón Museum in this land of steppes and tides. “We are part of Argentina’s grand history,” says Loyola, highlighting the unique connection between this Patagonian corner and the national idiosyncrasy.

The streets of the town, the fishermen who set out at dawn, and the estancias battered by the wind tell their own version of what it means to live in harmony with the environment. The historic houses and buildings with unique characteristics build the narrative of a place that preserves the essence of Patagonia.

Camarones vibrates in a special way during the town’s anniversary, with its traditional spit-roasted lamb, reinforcing the sense of unity and belonging that characterizes the people of Camarones. The National Salmon Festival fills the days with music, aromas, and encounters, becoming a true declaration of love for the sea.

A tourist and sustainable coastal destination

Far from the major tourist circuits, Camarones follows its own rhythm. Part of the Blue Route, the town promotes activities such as coastal hiking, guided explorations to Isla Leones, and experiences designed to discover without altering the environment.

“We know that more and more people are looking for destinations that respect nature and offer authentic experiences. In Camarones, you can see wonderful landscapes and experience a real commitment to sustainability,” explains Loyola.

In Camarones, Patagonia shows another face: that of encountering oneself. “We want those who visit us to take away more than just photos; we want them to take the soul of our town,” concludes Loyola.
