Routes and recommendations to explore the Sierra de Las Quijadas National Park

**’FARALLONES’ Trail:**

It offers impressive views and a long but rewarding hike. Available from 08:00 to 09:00, finishing at 13:30.

**’HUELLAS DEL PASADO’ Trail:**

Available from 08:00 to 10:30, ideal for those interested in history and the region’s vestiges. Finishes at 13:30.

In the afternoon: from 15:00 to 16:00, finishing at 18:30.

**’GUANACOS’ Trail:**

In the morning: available from 08:00 to 10:30, finishing at 13:30.

In the afternoon: available from 15:00 to 15:30, finishing at 18:30.

**’Combined’ Trail (Farallones-Huellas del Pasado):**

Latest departure time at 10:00. This excursion can only be done if the forecasted temperature does not exceed 28°C.

Precautions for high temperatures

“We inform about the **high temperatures** forecasted by the National Meteorological Service. Bear in mind that we are in a period of extreme heat; for safety reasons and according to current regulations, if the thermometer at the Hualtarán Operational Center (COH) reads 33°C at the start of the hike, the ‘Guanacos’ trail cannot be done, and if temperatures exceed 35°C, the ‘Huellas del Pasado’ and ‘Farallones’ trails cannot be done,” highlighted Bruno Gil, park director.

These conditions represent a health risk during physically demanding hikes, so visitors are advised to be attentive to the weather and plan their activities accordingly.

Additionally, it is essential to check the **weather conditions** before the visit and bring enough **drinking water**, a hat, comfortable clothing and footwear, sunscreen, sunglasses, and insect repellent.
