One of the points that attracts tourists the most to this town is that it only has a stable population of nine people.
It is a popular destination for tourists from various regions as well as for residents of Viedma (Río Negro) and Carmen de Patagones (Buenos Aires), the closest ones.
Sea lions, among the main attractions
Just 3 km away is the Punta Bermeja protected natural area, home to one of the world’s largest continental colonies of South American sea lions.
During the breeding season, which runs from November to March, the colony is home to more than 6000 individuals, and permanently, at least 2000.
Furthermore, it is a refuge for native fauna, as it houses various coastal and continental birds, such as cormorants, seagulls, and burrowing parrots.
Camping, for greater contact with nature
The camping area was abandoned for many years. However, in recent years, a recovery was carried out that generated a strong influx of tourism.
In addition to having an unparalleled view from the cliff, there is a food cart and bonfires that can be rented to spend the day before going down to the beach.
One of them also houses the administrative office, the supply store, and restrooms.
