During the weekend, an exemplary clean-up day took place on a hill in San Juan, with pure voluntary work. Among 50 people, with bags in hand, they removed an amount of waste that filled two trucks.
Clean-up day in San Juan: 50 volunteers and the hill cleared
The clean-up day in the hill in San Juan was a success.
The Community Cleaning Meeting, centered around Cerro Blanco, a space highly valued by the locals, was organized by the NGO Equilibrios. It took place on Sunday with the participation of over 50 volunteers.
The team received support from the provincial Environment Secretariat, through the Circular Economy; Conservation; and Urban Forestry departments.
These areas were in charge of logistics, providing trucks, containers, and bags for waste collection; and also with a team of agents who patrolled the area from Sierras Azules to Cerro Blanco.
Furthermore, Urban Forestry assisted in material removal and organized a draw for eight specimens of American ash trees among the volunteers. As a token of appreciation, participants also received a bag of compost produced at the Environmental Technologies Park.
The municipality of Zonda contributed another truck to transport the waste during the operation. At the end of the afternoon, the organization thanked everyone for “significantly contributing to the conservation of this valuable natural environment”.
