The Planning and Public Spaces Department of the Escobar Municipality has installed a professional ecoboard in the Escobar Stream, a key measure for environmental protection to prevent waste from reaching the Natural Reserve, a crucial area for biodiversity.
A community effort for environmental protection
“This investment, thanks to the agreement with Wildlife Foundation, addresses a problem that we can tackle together as a community. We know that the best way to keep our streams clean is by preventing waste from reaching them. While we continue to raise awareness, we are also taking action: during 2024, we managed to remove 27,500 kilos of waste from the various streams in our district. Now, with this ecoboard, the results will be even better,” stated Mayor Ariel Sujarchuk on his social media.
Commitment to sustainable policies in Escobar
The mayor reiterated, “With greater collective commitment and sustainable policies, we can reduce the need for these tools and allocate resources to more actions that promote environmental conservation and restoration. Environmental care requires the effort of all sectors. Let’s continue building a more sustainable future.”
What are ecoboards and how do they work?
Ecoboards are floating barriers (traps), handcrafted with plastic bottles and polyethylene mesh, designed to capture larger waste items that are carried from various points in the basins to the waterways.
