Saint Peter: Children and families drive environmental awareness with the project “Guardians of the Jungle”

The San Pedro sports center was the setting for a day full of enthusiasm, creativity, and environmental awareness. It was within the framework of the educational project “Guardians of the Jungle: Exploring and Taking Care of Our Home Against Climate Change”, promoted by NENI 2040.

The activity, which was declared of municipal and provincial interest, brought together hundreds of children, teachers, and families. It is an interdisciplinary proposal that combined exhibitions, artistic performances, and community reflection.

An experience that mobilizes the community from the classrooms

During the meeting, students from 3, 4, and 5-year-old classrooms presented works on water, fire, pollution, and biodiversity, made with recycled materials. One of the highlights was the exhibition of a giant jaguar, built with fifth-year students from EPET N° 20. A symbol of collaborative effort and the value of interinstitutional work.

Pedagogical proposals included the use of disruptive education, such as a live radio program run by the students themselves, who invited reflection on climate change and environmental care.

An educational approach that plants habits of environmental awareness from childhood

“This project shows that children can be multipliers of environmental awareness from their homes,” highlighted Lucila Artui in an interview with El Territorio portal. She also emphasized the value of these experiences in forming positive habits: “Taking care of water, avoiding fire, and not burning garbage are essential changes that children often teach adults.”.

During the event, municipal, provincial, and educational authorities acknowledged the commitment of early childhood education to environmental education and praised the active participation of families.

From the direction of NENI 2040, led by Alejandra Sosa, they thanked for the support received and highlighted that the educational community will continue to promote actions that foster a more respectful bond with the natural environment.

Planting awareness from childhood, a long-term commitment

The project “Guardians of the Jungle” not only highlights the environmental urgency but also proposes a way of educating, creating, and living in harmony with nature.

Initiatives like this demonstrate that early education can be a driver of cultural change, where the classroom becomes the first space for transformation and hope for a sustainable future.
