Missions creates the Provincial Registry of Climate Projects: a platform that connects local action with global financing

The province of Misiones launched the Provincial Registry of Mitigation and Adaptation Projects to Climate Change (RPPMyA), a digital platform that allows municipalities, companies, and organizations to formalize their climate initiatives.

The objective is to organize, give visibility, and enhance each local effort, facilitating access to financing and improving territorial management in the face of climate change.

Climate governance and traceability

Climate action has shifted from being an abstract promise to becoming a concrete strategy. The registry seeks to answer key questions:

  • How much carbon does a native forest capture?
  • How does a factory optimize its energy consumption?
  • Which localities are prepared for droughts or floods?
  • Which projects can attract sustainable investments?

Under the Provincial Decree 1946/24 and regulatory resolutions (SECC 42/25 and 8/26), a scheme was designed to organize and validate mitigation and adaptation projects, integrating them into the official climate strategy.

A dynamic snapshot of the territory

The registry functions as a “dynamic snapshot” of ongoing actions:

  • Forestry projects that capture carbon.
  • Industries that reduce energy consumption.
  • Local communities working on solutions against droughts and floods.

The State Secretariat for Climate Change highlighted: “We are building the invisible infrastructure that connects what we do in Misiones with the needs of the world”.

Strategic benefits

Participating in the registry opens opportunities for different actors:

  • Visibility and recognition: dispersed projects receive official support.
  • Access to financing: validated technical information attracts national and international investments.
  • Improvement of public management: reliable data allows for designing more effective policies against heatwaves or fires.
  • Contribution to sustainable development: connects local initiatives with international commitments and carbon markets.

Comprehensive innovation

The platform recognizes both projects that reduce emissions and those that facilitate adaptation.

This links local efforts with national obligations in international conventions and enables financing in the global carbon market.

Regional relevance

Latin America is one of the regions most exposed to environmental risks. Therefore, international organizations highlight the need for concrete adaptation actions. Climate governance prioritizes indicators of social cohesion, ecosystem protection, and territorial resilience.

Misiones takes on the challenge of harmonizing low-carbon productive development with global climate vulnerability, integrating measures into its Provincial Climate Change Response Plan.

Registration procedure

Projects must:

  1. Submit basic and technical information.
  2. Undergo a verification process and alignment with mitigation or adaptation actions.
  3. Be incorporated into the registry once validated.

The digital platform is already available: Provincial Registry of Climate Projects.

The Provincial Registry of Mitigation and Adaptation Projects to Climate Change makes Misiones a pioneer in systematizing climate action.

By giving visibility and support to local initiatives, the province connects with carbon markets, green financing, and international commitments, consolidating the transition towards sustainable development.
