New Installation of Urban Sound Insulation with Solar System in Austria

Most read

A new solar installation has been completed at Landstraßer Gürtel, in the 3rd district of Vienna, combining energy production with urban soundproofing.

Commissioned by ARE Real Estate Vienna, this entity supervised the entire project, demonstrating how solar technology can address multiple urban challenges by providing clean energy and improving local living conditions.

The project was carried out by a leading photovoltaic provider in Austria, known for its large-scale solar installations, including rooftop systems, solar carports, and Agri-PV solutions.

What the solar plant with urban soundproofing is like

The solar plant is part of the DOCKS complex and is designed to reduce noise affecting nearby buildings while generating clean energy.

With a length of 320 meters and 1,088 solar modules, the installation has a total capacity of 402 kWp. Additionally, it connects two buildings, creating a sound barrier and providing shade to the lower space.

The structure, with a tilt ranging from 28° to 38°, ensures efficient solar light capture throughout the year.

This project presented significant challenges, such as high wind loads, a unique steel structure, and complex installation scenarios. To overcome them, special attention was paid to the selection of materials and technologies.

SoliTek solar modules were chosen as the optimal solution due to their performance, durability, and compliance with strict safety standards. SoliTek, as a European manufacturer specializing in solar modules for integrated applications, has extensive experience in developing solutions for sound barriers along highways, railway infrastructures, and building facades.

Advanced Technology for Superior Performance

SoliTek’s SOLID Bifacial modules incorporate advanced bifacial technology, capturing solar light on both sides to increase energy production by up to 35%. Their frameless design reduces dirt accumulation, simplifies maintenance, and enhances their modern appearance, seamlessly integrating with the innovative architecture of the DOCKS complex.

These panels also stand out for their reliability and safety, being certified by the DIBt (the German construction authority) for overhead installations like carports and terrace roofs. Their robust construction is designed to withstand extreme weather conditions, including snow loads of up to 10,500 Pa and hail impacts of up to 40 mm in diameter.

Backed by a 30-year product warranty, SoliTek modules offer lasting and reliable performance, making them an ideal choice to meet the technical and aesthetic requirements of this unique project.

Positive Impact and Multifunctionality

This project sets a new standard in multifunctional solar installations, combining energy production with improvements in urban infrastructure that benefit the community. Furthermore, it demonstrates how sustainability can be integrated into innovative solutions that address environmental and social challenges in dense urban environments.

The integration of clean technologies like those from SoliTek in urban projects not only promotes the transition to renewable energies but also enhances the quality of life by mitigating common issues such as urban noise and heat. This multidimensional approach sets an example for future sustainable initiatives in cities around the world.
