In **1960**, at the age of 26, she traveled to Tanzania and began her observations in Gombe, where she made remarkable discoveries about the social life and tool use by **chimpanzees**.

These findings challenged prevailing ideas about what sets humans apart from other animals, forever changing the field of primatology.

Following her groundbreaking discoveries about these animals, Goodall was accepted at the **University of Cambridge** where she obtained a Ph.D. in ethology.

In **1977**, she founded the Jane Goodall Institute, which promotes research and **environmental education** worldwide. It has a total of 30 locations around the globe and is highly recognized for its innovative and community-centered conservation and development programs in **Africa**.
