In Santa Fe, 67 parrots and parakeets were rescued in simultaneous operations.

On one hand, officials from the Regional Unit XV identified a man and a woman for a violation of Provincial Law No. 6,292, and confiscated 17 birds that were up for sale.

Rescue operation in Desvío Arijón

It all started when the officers received a report about parrot sales in a WhatsApp group. The individuals involved resided on a farm located at National Route 11 km 431, in the jurisdiction of Desvío Arijón.

The police initiated an investigation and, with the necessary legal permits, conducted a search of the residence, confiscating 17 parrots, known as the Talking Parrot of Argentina or Yellow-winged Amazon.

The Prosecutor on duty was notified, and a man and a woman were identified for violating Provincial Law No. 6,292, which prohibits the possession and sale of wildlife. The Ecological Police intervened to continue with the proceedings.

Operation in Rosario

Simultaneously, agents from the Judicial Division and the Animal Rescue Ecological Brigade of UR II carried out another operation in Rosario. Following previous investigations, they seized a box with 50 parakeets that had been offered through social networks.

The agents posed as buyers and arranged a meeting with the sellers at Rouillón 4500, Rosario. In a swift action, the officers identified themselves, confiscated the birds, and arrested a man and a woman.

Both parrot and parakeet rescue operations highlight the authorities’ commitment to protecting wildlife and ensuring compliance with current laws.
