The Special Fiscal Unit for Environmental Matters (UFEMA) of the City of Buenos Aires (CABA) led a raid that ended with the dismantling of an illegal poodle breeding facility.
They rescued 14 dogs from a private home, where they were living in deplorable conditions.
The operation, led by Dr. Blas Matías Michienzi, was the result of an investigation that confirmed that the illegal activity was still taking place at the same location, despite having been raided months earlier.
Operation at an illegal poodle breeding facility: a repeat offense
The same property had already been the subject of an intervention in October 2024, when 57 dogs of the same breed were rescued. The evidence collected during that first operation allowed the authorities to confirm the resumption of the breeding facility, leading to this new action.

During the raid, agents found 14 poodles in deplorable conditions. Among them, there were two puppies hidden in a closet, adult females, and three in an advanced state of pregnancy.
Dogs at risk and violation of the law
The veterinarians who participated in the rescue confirmed that the animals were malnourished, dirty, without health records, and without vaccines.
Additionally, the space was completely inadequate for their well-being. The authorities also confirmed that the person responsible for the breeding facility had violated the closure imposed during the previous raid, leading to a new closure of the property.
All the dogs were transferred to an animal protection NGO. There, they will receive the veterinary care necessary for their recovery, while individual monitoring of each animal is carried out thanks to an identification microchip.

Investigation of the illegal breeding facility in Flores
This case originated in the Justice system in October 2024. It started with an investigation by the Wildlife Area of the Judicial Investigations Corps (CIJ) of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the City, which together with UFEMA, managed to determine that the illegal breeding activity was taking place at that location by two individuals who lived there.
At that time, Prosecutor Rolero requested the search warrant, which was granted by Judge Fernanda Botana, in charge of the PCyF 5 Court, with the objective of ceasing the risk to the animals and dismantling the serious overcrowding situation.
During the raid, they found the 57 overcrowded poodles in the breeding facility located inside the property. They were immediately assisted, and professionals determined the blatant animal abuse, as well as numerous hygiene deficiencies and zoonotic risks.
