La Plata: rescate de cinco galgos maltratados usados para cazar

In another case of animal abuse, five greyhounds were rescued in a state of extreme abandonment in a house in La Plata.

There, the owner kept them chained and without food to “improve their hunting skills.”

In the operation, the person responsible was arrested and is now facing charges of animal abuse.

The conditions of extreme cruelty suffered by the greyhounds

The animals were found in a house located on 609 between 124 and 125 streets.

According to the portal 0221, the greyhounds were tied with chains, without access to water or food, and lived among their own excrement.

The intervention was carried out by the Technical Operational Cabinet (GTO), with the participation of a police force veterinarian and personnel from an animal protection NGO.

The veterinary examination revealed signs of malnutrition and aggression.

This is due to the prolonged confinement and stress to which the five greyhounds were subjected for weeks.

How the responsible person was arrested in La Plata

During the operation, the owner was arrested. He was identified as L. F. H., a 32-year-old man.

According to authorities, the accused stated that he kept the greyhounds in those conditions “to improve their hunting skills”.

These statements were recorded in the judicial case being handled by the Instruction Functional Unit (UFI) No. 17, under the direction of prosecutor María Eugenia Di Lorenzo, specialized since August in crimes related to animal abuse.

The case is being investigated within the framework of Law 14,346 on Animal Abuse and Cruelty.

This law includes criminal penalties for those who inflict unnecessary suffering on animals.

Prosecutor’s Office No. 17 continues to gather evidence and conduct expert examinations to establish the accused’s criminal responsibility.

L. F. H. was taken to a police station and placed at the disposal of the judiciary.

The current situation of the rescued greyhounds

After receiving veterinary care, the five greyhounds were placed under the care of a local animal protection NGO.

The organization will be responsible for their physical and emotional recovery, with the aim of finding them responsible homes through adoption.

Specialists are working to reverse the effects of the abuse.

This includes especially the aggressive behaviors developed as a result of prolonged confinement and extreme stress conditions.

This case has reignited concern about animal abuse in the La Plata region.

Furthermore, it highlights the need to strengthen controls on the ownership of animals used for activities such as hunting.

Authorities emphasize the importance of reporting cases of animal abuse or neglect to allow timely interventions that save lives.
