Construction begins on a new photovoltaic park in San Luis: who is developing it and how much energy will it produce

The construction of a new photovoltaic park will soon begin in San Luis. It is the Calicanto project, carried out by the company Aisa Group.

This new park will be located in the Belgrano department and is a key project within their plan for energy diversification and strategic investments in the country.

The project will be built on 71.9 hectares and will have an installed capacity of 51 MWp, with an estimated generation of 110.1 GWh per year. This is enough to supply electricity to more than 80,000 homes.

**How the new park will be and when it will be operational**

The connection to the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI) will be made through two underground 33 kV lines and a new transformation field at the Nogolí Transformation Station. The park is expected to start operating in December 2026.

According to the company, this photovoltaic park is the first step that the group is taking in the energy field for Argentina. At the same time, they are developing an investment plan that aims to generate around 1000 MW of solar energy in the next decade.

The program is under study for adherence to the Grand Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI). “Calicanto is not just a solar park: it is a concrete contribution to the development of San Luis and a sign of confidence in Argentina’s energy potential,” stated Juan Manuel López, Calicanto’s Manager.

“Our commitment is to deliver a project of technological excellence, creating jobs and value for the local community,” he emphasized.

**Investments anticipated by Aisa Group**

According to the company, this project is not the only one they will undertake in the country. It is part of the investments that Aisa Group is making. They plan to invest over $1600 million in key sectors, including mining, renewable energy, fishing, agribusiness, real estate development, and oil & gas. “All in different productive sectors of Argentina,” they specified.

Among the main achievements of the group are the reactivation of the Gualcamayo mine and the development of the new Carbonatos Profundos mine in San Juan.

Additionally, they mention the acquisition of the Cabo Vírgenes fishery in Chubut, and the transformation of the former Cinzano site, also in San Juan, into a combined business and residential real estate development.

Juan José Retamero, head of the owning family of Aisa Group, highlighted the objectives. “Our vision is clear. Investing with 100% private capital to create a future in Argentina,” he stated.

“Calicanto, along with our initiatives in mining, fishing, oil & gas, and real estate development, are pillars of a long-term plan that aims to generate employment, exports, and genuine growth for the country,” he concluded.
