The government of the Province of Buenos Aires announced the construction of five new solar parks in various localities of the Buenos Aires interior.
The projects are part of the Provincial Program of Incentives for Renewable Distributed Generation (Proinged), under the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services and the Regional Electric Forum of Buenos Aires (Freba).
The investment will be financed with funds from the electricity tariff allocated to renewable energies, reinforcing the provincial commitment to the energy transition and the diversification of the electricity matrix.
Benefited localities
The new solar parks will be located in:
- Pehuen Có (Coronel Rosales)
- San Cayetano
- 16 de Julio (Azul)
- Pipinas (Punta Indio)
- Alberti
In the cases of Pehuen Có and San Cayetano, lithium battery storage systems will also be installed, allowing energy conservation and meeting demand outside solar hours, improving the stability of the electricity supply.
Technical details of the works
The installations will include:
- Photovoltaic panels.
- Transformers and hybrid inverters.
- Metal support structures.
- Construction of transformer stations.
- Cable laying and land conditioning.
- Perimeter fencing for safety and protection.
Expansion of installed capacity
With these new developments, the Province of Buenos Aires will have 31 operational solar parks, including the 26 current ones and the Isla Martín García system. Together, they will add up to 11.5 megawatts of installed power.
The estimated production of the new parks will be 4,000 kilowatt-hours annually, enough to supply about 1,300 homes, especially in areas with structural restrictions in the electricity service.

Key benefits of solar parks
Solar parks represent a strategic advancement for the province:
- Energy diversification: they complement the matrix with renewable sources alongside wind and gas.
- Environmental sustainability: they reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to mitigating climate change.
- Strengthening of the electrical grid: they improve supply in areas with deficient infrastructure, such as coastal and tourist zones.
- Economic development and employment: they generate jobs in construction, operation, and maintenance.
- Reduction of energy costs: they decrease dependence on imported fossil fuels.
- Distributed generation: they allow smaller-scale projects integrated into the grid, improving service quality at specific points.
Impact on the province
The solar parks are part of the Strategic Energy Transition Plan of Buenos Aires, which seeks to promote renewable energies and consolidate a sustainable model.
Currently, projects are being implemented in municipalities such as Alberti, Azul, Coronel Rosales, Punta Indio, and San Cayetano, with already operational works and new plans underway.
These initiatives not only increase electricity generation capacity but also foster innovation and research, with the aim of replicating successful models in other localities.
The construction of five new solar parks in the Buenos Aires interior marks a firm step towards the provincial energy transition.
With environmental, economic, and social benefits, these works consolidate the commitment to a diversified and sustainable matrix, capable of improving the quality of the electricity service and boosting the local economy.
