The city of **Oberá**, in the province of **Misiones**, is advancing in its commitment to sustainability and [energy transition](https://noticiasambientales.com/energia/la-energia-solar-extiende-la-autonomia-de-los-vehiculos-electricos-hasta-en-un-30/). Very soon it will have the **largest solar park in the province**.

The construction is progressing at the **Technological Industrial Park and Innovation Central Zone**.

This project aims to diversify the local energy matrix and reduce dependence on non-renewable sources.

## How will Oberá’s new solar park be?

With a total area of **20 hectares**, it will include the installation of approximately **21,500 solar panels**.

With an installed capacity of 10 megawatts peak (MWp), it is estimated to produce around **16,375 megawatt-hours (MWh) per year**. This is enough energy to supply more than 8000 homes in the region.

In addition to generating clean energy, the solar park will help **avoid the emission of about 11,800 [tons of carbon dioxide](https://noticiasambientales.com/medio-ambiente/onu-urge-una-reduccion-drastica-de-emisiones-en-2025-despues-de-diez-anos-de-calor-mortal/)** (CO₂) per year. This represents a significant contribution to the fight against climate change.

The initiative also aims to save about four million liters of **fossil fuel annually**.

From an economic point of view, it was reported that the project will generate employment during its construction and operation stages, and strengthen the energy infrastructure in the area. It will **reduce losses from electricity transport** and distribution.
