This week, the province of La Pampa took a decisive step towards a more extensive matrix of renewable energy.
The construction of a new solar park in General Pico has already been awarded.
Once operational, this would allow the province to have about a third of its demand covered with renewable energy.
Thus, the project would mark a key stage in the environmental expansion and productive growth of the district.
According to the official document, the awarding of the 15 MW solar park would raise the renewable electric coverage to 27.6% of the provincial demand, which would consolidate a cleaner and more competitive matrix.
This leap would position La Pampa among the jurisdictions with one of the fastest advances in energy transition in Argentina.
The project foresees an investment of u$s 10.49 million, with a mixed scheme where the private sector would contribute 80% and the province’s oil company, Pampetrol, the other 20%.

This model is expected to boost the arrival of capital and new production opportunities.
Governor Sergio Ziliotto highlighted the awarding by stating: “This investment demonstrated confidence in La Pampa, in its institutions, and in the development model we are building.”
A park that could transform local infrastructure
The work will be developed in the Energy Supply and Productive Development Hub of General Pico.
There, 27,612 bifacial panels capable of generating 37,236 MWh annually will be installed.
This production is expected to supply more than 9,000 households, reinforcing the availability of renewable energy in La Pampa.
Additionally, the initiative would generate employment with a minimum of 70% of the workforce being from La Pampa, which would expand the economic impact of the project.
Another aim of the project is to improve the quality of the electric service and the industrial capacity of the economic activities park.
In this regard, the Secretary of Energy and Mining, Matías Toso, emphasized the importance of the provincial plan.
“The energy transition is not just an environmental goal; for La Pampa, it is a concrete opportunity to produce more, generate employment, and sustain growth,” he expressed.
A model that would bolster investment and development in La Pampa
During the process, the agency ICOMEX played a key role in promoting private participation.
Its director, Sebastián Lastiri, stated that “public-private participation proved to be one of the central tools for provincial development.”
For her part, Mayor Fernanda Alonso emphasized that the project is not merely declarative.
“It is clean energy that will allow us to expand the industrial zone and model a new production matrix,” she stated.
The key data of La Pampa’s new renewable energy project
- Planned capacity: 15 MW solar.
- Estimated generation: 37,236 MWh annually.
- Potentially supplied households: more than 9,000.
- Total investment: u$s10.49 million.
- State participation: 20% via Pampetrol.
- Local workforce: minimum 70%.
Governor Ziliotto anticipated that, following this awarding, Pampetrol would promote new calls to expand the installed capacity to 50 MW in General Pico.
With these initiatives, renewable energy would continue positioning La Pampa as a standout case of sustainable transition and regional development.
