A bathtub that “washes people”? According to the Japanese firm Science, it is possible. It is the Mirai Nigen Sentakuki bathtub, an invention designed to provide a personalized bath experience, measuring the heart rate and adjusting the water temperature while displaying images based on the bather’s mood.
This project is based on the “Ultra Sonic Bus” washing machine, designed by the company Sanyo Electric, now Panasonic Holdings Corp., first exhibited in 1970 during the World Expo in Osaka, Japan.
This Science version guarantees a “modern and futuristic” bathtub that offers intelligent functions to customize people’s washing experience according to their preferences and needs. According to the company that created it, their goal is to create an “optimal bathing environment”, cleansing the body and providing a visual image of the mental and physical state during the bath.
Furthermore, the creating company announced that this new version features fine bubble technology, allowing for a gentle body cleaning, providing a complete wash and dry in just 15 minutes. This project will be showcased at the Health Pavilion of the Osaka Kansai Expo in April next year, where users will be able to try it out.
How does this smart bathtub work?
A striking feature of this new bathtub is its design, which is based on a cabin with a reclined seat for the user to lie down. Additionally, it includes a transparent roof or cover that serves as the entrance door to the bathtub.
Moreover, the bathtub can be partially filled with water when the user sits down, thanks to the sensors integrated into the seat that measure the heart rate and other biological factors, allowing for adjusting the water flow and temperature.
It also includes an Artificial Intelligence system that will analyze the collected data to select images that best suit the user’s needs on the bathtub cover.
