Zac Efron, the Hollywood star, plans to build “the most sustainable house in the world” in northern New South Wales. The American actor, who rose to fame for his role in High School Musical, has submitted a development application for the property on a private 128-hectare plot of land he purchased in December 2020 for 2 million dollars.

The property features its own tropical rainforest, a paradise for nature lovers, with three streams and waterfalls. There are also breathtaking views of Mount Warning and many cliffs and valleys for hiking.

The house he plans to build will cover 830 square meters and has a construction cost of almost 3 million dollars. It will have six bedrooms planned over two floors with a series of “capsules” made of hemp panels, connected by a covered walkway. The house has been designed by architect Frank Burridge from Main Studio. “The capsules are scattered on the site to celebrate the landscape, reduce the building’s volume, promote connection with the outdoors, and frame key views,” says the application, describing it as a “house that captures carbon and creates habitat.” There will be a green roof that retains water to support endangered local butterflies and fireflies.

The house he plans to build will be unique and incredible, beyond the ordinary, described as an “Future Cave” ecological house.
