Thanks to the intervention of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office (UFEMA), led by Dr. Carlos Rolero Santurián, a raid was carried out at a residence on Arrotea Street, where 57 poodles were rescued from an overcrowded breeding facility that operated as an illegal breeding site. In the place, 57 Toy Poodles were rescued.

The case began with an investigation by the Fauna Area of the Judicial Investigations Corps (CIJ) of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the City, which, together with UFEMA, determined that an illegal breeding activity was taking place at that location, carried out by two residents.

Faced with the animal abuse suffered by the overcrowded poodles in the breeding facility and the lack of care towards sentient beings, and after the investigative tasks assigned by UFEMA, the necessary evidence was gathered to confirm the situation. Prosecutor Rolero requested a search warrant, granted by Judge Fernanda Botana, in charge of the PCyF 5 Court, with the aim of ceasing the risk to the animals and dismantling the serious overcrowding situation.

The operation was coordinated and carried out by the Judicial Investigations Corps (CIJ) of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the City, together with personnel from the Division of Contraventional Conducts and Offenses and the Dog Division of the City Police, the General Directorate of Environmental Control (DGCONTA), and veterinarians from the Environmental Protection Agency (APRA).

During the raid, the 57 overcrowded poodles in the breeding facility located inside the property were found. They were immediately assisted by veterinarians, who determined blatant animal abuse, as well as numerous hygiene deficiencies and zoonotic risks.

### Recommended their immediate rescue and safeguarding.

For this reason, all animals were rescued, and the seizure of at least 10 cages where the dogs were overcrowded, as well as other relevant items serving as evidence for the investigation, was ordered.

> The dogs were handed over to an NGO to be stabilized and cared for.

Additionally, the 2 people residing at the location were charged with acts of cruelty (Law 14.346) and for violating the rules established by animal health police laws (art. 206 of the Penal Code).
