Those who have electric cars can now travel from Buenos Aires to Mar del Plata

Most read

Traveling from the City of Buenos Aires to Mar del Plata on Route 2 in a combustion engine car (gasoline or diesel) usually takes about four and a half hours under normal traffic conditions. However, in electric cars, that journey can take longer due to their limited range.

Range and Charging of Electric Cars

Electric cars are powered by lithium batteries and generally have a range of 300 kilometers, which means it is necessary to stop to recharge energy on the journey from Buenos Aires to Mar del Plata.

These vehicles have a charging point at the front and receive energy from an electric dispenser. Charging powers vary, but the devices on the roads are high-powered and can recharge a lithium battery up to 80% in 45 minutes.

Trip Planning

It is crucial to plan the trip well and know in advance in which town you will stop. Take advantage of the fast charging time at a café in the gas station or private charging point. On Route 2, there is a key point for recharging electric cars: the YPF service station in Dolores, located at kilometer 202, which has fast chargers of 50 kW and ultra-fast ones of up to 160 kW.

Charging Network

In addition, there is a private charging network called ChargeBox on Route 2, with points in Chascomús (kilometer 113), at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Dolores, and at a Carrefour supermarket in Mar del Plata.

Some electric cars that currently circulate on Argentine roads do not pay a license plate fee in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
