The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of **San Luis** conducted a review of the **water quality** in the rivers that cross **La Carolina**.

According to the procedure, environmental inspectors arrived at the town located 81 kilometers from the capital city of San Luis. There, they carried out an inspection, the subsequent analysis of which will be performed in a laboratory and according to the **environmental indicators**.

“We collected samples to perform the necessary analyses and verify if they comply with the parameters set by environmental regulations, which establish the values that **discharges into rivers** must meet. Once the results are obtained, we notify the corresponding municipality,” said Alex Simioli, head of the Monitoring, Control, and Environmental Inspection Area.

Evaluation of discharges and environmental regulations in San Luis

Resolution No. 170-2013 establishes that, in order to discharge into a river, a series of **chemical, physical, and microbiological parameters** must be met. Therefore, samples are taken from water bodies to ensure that the water quality meets the established parameters and to verify the presence of discharges in the area.

If the discharges do not meet the parameters, training is provided, and collaboration is carried out with the corresponding municipality or industry so that they can **treat the effluents** and comply with the minimum environmental protection standards, issuing a certification that is monitored every 3 or 6 months, overseeing **compliance with the regulations**.

“This work is based on the **monitoring of provincial rivers**; this allows us to evaluate the water quality in rivers impacted by discharges of municipal or industrial effluents,” concluded Simioli. He was accompanied in the inspections by Arturo Negri, Director of Environmental Management of Water Resources. Both later held a meeting with Mayor Ranulfo Villegas.
