YPF QUÍMICA, as a business unit of YPF S.A., has published its third Sustainability Report. In this report, the company communicates to society, its clients, partners, suppliers, and employees its commitment to sustainable development, highlighting the efforts made in this area and using comparable data to support its actions. The report was prepared following the international guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact.

YPF Química is part of the company’s sustainability strategy, which aims to transform natural resources into energy and products that improve people’s quality of life and promote the country’s progress. “YPF QUÍMICA contributes to the journey towards a more sustainable and equitable world, through integrated and intelligent chemistry, with new and better products, innovative and technological, evaluating the social impact of our operations and focusing on the team’s talent to carry out Business management,” highlighted Florencia Rodriguez, Business Manager of Chemistry.

YPF QUÍMICA has the potential to continue creating value with a focus on the company’s vision, driving projects related to the monetization of natural gas resulting from the development of Vaca Muerta, contributing to the sustainability and energy transition of the country.

Main results 2023

Economic Performance

  • Annual production reached 1,161 kt, consolidating the company as one of the main leaders in petrochemical production in the country.
  • Revenues amounted to 1,130 million USD.
  • The company has over 200 clients, distributed with 40% in the local market, 19% in the export market, and 41% in domestic sales.

Environmental Performance

  • The energy intensity was 11.2 GJ/unit of production, representing a 13% decrease compared to the previous year.
  • 27.1% of the total electric energy consumed came from renewable sources, increasing by 17% compared to 2022.
  • The direct greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1) intensity was 0.52 tCO2e per unit of production, with a 9% reduction compared to the previous year.
  • Water consumption reached 2,601 kt.
  • 2,585 t of total waste were generated.

Social Performance

  • The company has 311 employees, and 33% of managerial and executive leadership positions are held by women.
  • 79% of purchases are domestic.
  • 9.8 million ARS were invested in voluntary social initiatives.
  • The accident frequency rate (AFR) was 0.27.

Highlighted Milestones

    Innovation

  • Launch of the first open innovation contest INN-LAB, selecting six finalist projects to contribute to the industry’s development.
  • Development of Oilfield Chemicals, Innovative Products for Oil & Gas, with Y-TEC’s own technology.

    Recognitions

  • National Quality Award Competition (PNC): Received two special mentions, in the private sector 2023, for its performance in Process Management and Social Responsibility Management.
  • Responsible Care Program for the Environment (PCRMA): was recognized as “the industrial company with the Best Performance 2023” in one of its Petrochemical Industrial Complexes in Argentina.
