Trevelin, in the province of Chubut, continues to consolidate its profile as a destination for sustainable tourism with the development of Tierra de Brotes, a venture located on the Ruta de Chacras de Trevelin. The place combines lavender production and connection with nature in an environment of native forest with panoramic views of the Andes Mountains.
This project, led by Antonia Beale, along with Michael Beale and Oliver Pettit, focuses on the planting of 2500 specimens of the “lavandin” variety of lavender, creating a new tourist attraction for the Trevelin valley.
The legacy of lavender production in the region
Lavender production in Los Cipreses, near Trevelin, has already been developed for productive purposes, especially for the extraction of essences at the Institute of Biotechnology (INBIES), dependent on the National University of Patagonia San Juan Bosco.
Now, Tierra de Brotes aims to complement this activity with a space designed for sustainable tourism, strengthening Trevelin’s identity as an ecological destination.
Currently in the design phase, it is expected that Tierra de Brotes will be operational for the next summer season, offering a unique tour among lavender fields and native forest in the Kansas alley.
Institutional support and commitment to sustainability
During his visit to the project, the Tourism Secretary, Juan Manuel Peralta, celebrated the initiative and highlighted its importance within the sustainable profile of Trevelin, where experiences of connecting with nature and the environment are prioritized.
On the other hand, the Production Manager of the Municipality of Trevelin and its Parajes, Nicolás Ewdokimoff, emphasized the value of these ventures, stating that they “enhance the landscape and develop productive activities that respect and take care of the native forest”.
One step closer to sustainable tourism
Tierra de Brotes reinforces Trevelin’s commitment to ecotourism, offering a sustainable, productive, and harmonious experience with the environment, positioning the town as a benchmark for sustainable tourism in Patagonia.
