The authorities of the Nahuel Huapi National Park have reported that the Paso de las Nubes trail has been reopened from Refugio Rocca to Puerto Frías in both directions, offering a two-day adventure covering 12 kilometers.
Visitors will be able to enjoy an outdoor trek through the mountains, the Valdivian rainforest, the lakes, and rivers of the area, accompanied by mandatory authorized guides.
Adventure Details in Nahuel Huapi National Park
Day 1:
- Start: From Pampa Linda, departing from the gate just meters from the Park Ranger’s house.
- Duration: 4 to 6 hours of hiking to Refugio Agostino Rocca, where overnight stay is available.
Day 2:
- Continuation: In the morning, continue towards Lake Frías with a steep descent until reaching the shores of the Frías River.
- Vegetation: Appreciate the lush vegetation of the Valdivian rainforest and the pure air from the Pacific.
- Suspension Bridge: At km 9, there is a suspension bridge crossing the Frías River, with 3 km remaining to reach Puerto Frías.
Requirements and Precautions
Authorities emphasize the importance of walking with caution as the area is humid and the trail may be slippery. The path is marked with signs indicating the current kilometer and the remaining distance.
Reservations and Mandatory Registration
It is essential to book in advance the overnight stay at Refugio Rocca and the navigation ticket from TURISUR for Lake Frías and Nahuel Huapi. It is also necessary to request the hired guide to complete the Trekking Registration to purchase navigation tickets.
