Recycling program in Lomas de Zamora: they accept used tires for reuse

Most read

The program **Lomas Recicla en Comunidad** from the Municipality of Lomas de Zamora has launched several initiatives to reduce the amount of **waste** ending up in **illegal dumps** and revalorize them. In the tire shops affiliated with the program, neighbors can bring **used tires** for their recovery.

“The recovered shredded rubber is used to manufacture other products. With this proposal, we reduce the amount of **vehicle tires** in illegal dumps and reintegrate them into the industry, generating added value,” highlighted from the Environment Secretariat.

Collection and Recovery Points

There are affiliated tire shops in Centenario, Llavallol, Temperley, Turdera, Santa Catalina, and Fiorito. Neighbors can check on the Municipality or Ambiente Lomas social media for the location of each one to bring their used tires.

At the Municipal Management Centers, they receive obsolete electrical and electronic waste to be repaired or to use their components as spare parts.

In different neighborhoods, there are 56 Recycling Points for neighbors to bring papers, cardboard, plastics, glass, and metals. The goal is to reach 200 **reception sites** and extend the hours of service to every day of the week, from 7 am to 7 pm. In schools, clubs, and senior centers, there will be campaigns, bags, and minibags manufactured by **local cooperatives**.

Green Day and Training Talks

In each of the 14 localities, **Green Day** is implemented. Once a week and before 10 in the morning, neighbors can **sort their recyclable materials** (paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, and metal) and place them in a bag with a sticker that identifies them on the street basket.

The cooperatives are in charge of collecting and taking them to the treatment plants. Stickers can be obtained at the Municipal Management Centers (CGM) and can also be downloaded from the Ambiente Lomas networks.

In clubs, businesses, and buildings, talks and training on source separation, differentiated waste collection, and delivery of minibags will be carried out so that more and more neighbors incorporate these habits into their daily lives.
