Gualeguaychú: Students carried out reforestation activities during an environmental education day.

Within the framework of World Environment Day, celebrated every June 5th, the Municipal Green Spaces Directorate organized a series of educational activities and reforestation with students from local institutions, promoting commitment to biodiversity conservation.

Educational Experience at Unzué Park

On Tuesday, the Municipal Nursery of Unzué Park hosted an educational meeting where 4th-year students from the Gualeguaychú Agricultural Institute participated in a guided talk on the importance of native trees in ecosystem balance.

As part of the initiative, the students collaborated in the planting of native species at Laguna de los Patos, including:

  • Myrtle (2 specimens).
  • Red guava (2 specimens).
  • Timbó (1 specimen).
  • Blanquillo (3 specimens).

Additionally, they took part in a seed recognition workshop, where they observed the characteristics, germination processes, and manual peeling techniques of the seeds, showing great interest and enthusiasm.

Reforestation at the Escuela Normal Superior

Simultaneously, another environmental action took place at the “Olegario Víctor Andrade” Escuela Normal Superior, where students, teachers, along with the Director of Green Spaces, Emilio Montefinale, carried out the planting of native trees on Montevideo Street.

They added:

  • One specimen of canelón.
  • Eight white cow’s foot trees.

The day included an informative talk, highlighting the importance of conserving native species and their positive impact on the environment.

Environmental Commitment through Education

The activities carried out reflect the importance of environmental education and direct action in preserving natural diversity.

These initiatives encourage community participation, promoting respect for the ecosystem and consolidating sustainable practices in Gualeguaychú.
