EcoRecords: Coldplay reissues discography on vinyl made from recycled plastic bottles

The iconic British group **Coldplay** announced the **reissue of their entire discography** in an innovative physical format: **vinyl records made from recycled plastic bottles**.

The so-called **EcoRecords**, made from recycled PET (rPET), represent a milestone in the pursuit of a **more sustainable and environmentally friendly music production**.

*”We are incredibly proud to collaborate with artists like Coldplay, who share our commitment to a more sustainable future for music,”* said **Jen Ivory**, CEO of **Parlophone**, the band’s record label.

## Sustainable Technology with High-Quality Sound

The **140g EcoRecord vinyl records** are composed of approximately **nine recycled bottles per unit**, processed through **injection molding** to form high-quality transparent discs. **[This method reduces carbon emissions by 85%](https://noticiasambientales.com/medio-ambiente/china-logra-frenar-sus-emisiones-de-carbono-sera-este-el-inicio-del-cambio-verde/)** compared to traditional vinyl manufacturing, without compromising the listening experience for listeners.

In addition to being **lighter and more durable**, these LPs are **easier to transport and reuse at the end of their life cycle**, thus contributing to the **circular economy model**.

## Moon Music and a Tour with a Reduced Footprint

Coldplay had already taken the first step in this direction with their 2024 album, *”Moon Music”*, which became the **world’s first album released in EcoRecord rPET format**.

That same year, the band also announced that they had **reduced their CO₂ emissions by 59%** during the first two years of their *Music Of The Spheres* tour, surpassing the original goal of 50%.

## Coldplay and a Collective Movement for a Greener Music Industry

Coldplay is not alone on this path: artists like **Billie Eilish** and **Massive Attack** have also adopted sustainable practices in their productions and tours. This convergence of innovation and intention sets a new standard for the artistic sector.

*”It’s not just about a new product, but a pioneering way of producing physical music with a lower environmental impact,”* emphasized Ivory, celebrating the band’s initiative.

The **reissues in EcoRecord LP format** are now available for pre-order and **will be released on August 15th**, reaffirming that **sustainability can also sound good**.
