The province of San Luis took a key step in its environmental management strategy by announcing the development of a climate change monitoring tool, developed within the framework of the ProCLIM-AR project.
This innovation will allow to survey, systematize, and evaluate the progress of the actions included in the Provincial Climate Change Response Plan, strengthening decision-making and long-term planning.
A climate policy with a vision for the future
The initiative is driven by the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development, with the technical support of the programmatic consultant ProCLIM-AR.
“We are promoting the creation of a monitoring tool for mitigation and adaptation measures that are being worked on in the Provincial Climate Change Response Plan,” explained Daniela Montalvini, director of Sustainable Development and Climate Management.
The objective is to consolidate evidence-based climate policies, allowing the province to move towards a resilient, low-emission model prepared for the challenges of climate change.
How the monitoring tool will work
The system will prioritize the monitoring of 10 adaptation measures and 10 mitigation measures from the Provincial Plan, generating:
- Provincial reports with updated indicators.
- Identification of information gaps.
- Standardized monitoring methodologies.
- Procedure manual and complementary materials to ensure its correct application by technical teams.
The tool will feature a second improved version, integrating territorial experience and local needs, ensuring that each action can be measured, evaluated, and refined.
