The province of Mendoza advances in its energy transition with the inauguration of the first Municipal Solar Park in Luján de Cuyo.
This is the first Public Photovoltaic Park in the province, a project that consolidates the region as a leader in renewable energies.
The project, located in Luján de Cuyo, will generate 710 kW of clean energy and will allow a historic saving of $1 million per day for the municipal coffers.
Solar park in Mendoza: a million-dollar investment for the energy transition
With an investment of $1.3 billion, the sustainable project is consolidated as one of the most innovative initiatives of the provincial management in environmental matters.
The mayor Esteban Allasino was in charge of officially inaugurating the project last week.

The energy infrastructure will supply 100% of the consumption of the Civic Park and the Sports Centers of Ciudad and Carrodilla.
This operational efficiency sets a precedent for other municipalities in Mendoza seeking to reduce their carbon footprint and optimize public resources.
Two fronts of solar generation in the new solar park in Mendoza
The project includes a dual strategy of generation that maximizes the utilization of the solar park in Mendoza:
- Roofs of the Civic Park (Boedo 505): installation of 314 solar panels with the capacity to produce 257 kW
- Solar parking (carports): installation of 748 panels that will provide 460 kW and inject energy into the grid to compensate for municipal consumption in other areas
Thus, this new solar park will transform the energy matrix of the department, demonstrating that the renewable transition is possible and profitable for local administrations in Mendoza.

Direct return of savings to residents
The mayor Allasino highlighted the unique nature of this initiative in Mendoza: “Starting next year, we will return the generated savings to residents who are up to date with their taxes and enrolled in automatic debit.”
“It’s an unusual event: the State, when it saves, never returns resources to the taxpayer who complies; we, starting with this project, will begin to return that savings to the residents of Luján,” added the communal leader.
This policy represents an innovative model of public management that directly links energy efficiency with the pockets of taxpayers in Mendoza.
Mendoza thus inaugurates a solar park that marks a before and after in the provincial public management: clean energy, real savings, and a sustainable vision for the future.
