Thanks to the intervention of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Unit (UFEMA), led by Dr. Blas Matías Michienzi, a raid on a house in the Rivadavia I neighborhood of this city was carried out, where a mixed-breed dog was rescued in deplorable conditions of health, hygiene, and habitat.
The case originated from multiple complaints that were filed with the UFEMA. In response, prosecutor Michienzi delegated preliminary investigative tasks to the Environmental Crimes Division of the City Police, which was able to establish that a dog was in a state of malnutrition, confined in an environment unsuitable for its welfare and development.
Faced with the possibility of animal abuse and neglect of care for the sentient being, the prosecutor requested a search warrant, which was granted by Dr. Natalia Ohman, in charge of Court PCyF 17, with the purpose of ending the precarious state of the animal and dismantling the serious situation caused by its overcrowding.
The operation was carried out in coordination with personnel from the Environmental Crimes Division and the Dog Division of the City Police, as well as with the collaboration of the General Directorate of Animal Management of the GCBA and its veterinarians.
During the raid, the presence of the dog was confirmed, which was found abandoned in a space where it lived among its own feces, with no one attending to its needs.
The veterinarians verified that the animal was in a generally poor state and had a condition of generalized alopecia in various areas of its body.
Additionally, it was found that its hygiene and habitability conditions were inadequate, evidencing the neglect towards it.
The UFEMA ordered the seizure of the canine sentient being and its transfer to an NGO specialized in animal protection and defense, where it will be stabilized and receive the necessary veterinary care.
