Cada invierno, el pueblo de Copahue, at the foot of the homonymous volcano in the Neuquén mountain range, is literally covered by snow. However, this isolation transforms into a unique tourist attraction: the Termas Nieve, a proposal that combines hot springs with winter activities in a setting of snowy mountains and thermal vapors emerging through the snow.
This year marked the third consecutive edition of the tourist product, revived after years of inactivity, with an unprecedented novelty: for the first time, winter accommodation was enabled in Copahue, allowing the experience to extend beyond a day trip.
How to get there
Access is via Caviahue using special vehicles: snowmobiles, caterpillars, and even private snowcats. Caviahue’s vehicle fleet is considered the largest in Latin America for snow transportation.
The journey passes through ancient araucaria forests until reaching a snow-covered village, where the vapors of the hot springs emerge.
Thermal treatments
Once in Copahue, visitors can enjoy a wide range of services:
- Laguna del Chancho: immersion recommended for muscle pain and skin conditions.
- Steam baths: relief for respiratory problems.
- Sulfur and ferruginous baths: with specific mineral properties.
- Facial masks with algae from Laguna Verde.
- Therapeutic massages and anti-stress circuits.
The famous thermal shock —first immersing in the snow and then in hot springs— is one of the most sought-after attractions.

The major addition is winter accommodation at the Aguas Verdes complex, which will allow sleeping in Copahue in the middle of winter. Additionally, more tourist providers and gastronomic services are added, such as the traditional chivito neuquino.
Complementary activities include snowshoeing, snowmobile excursions, visits to the Salto del Agrio, and tours to the border landmark with Chile.
