Inditex allocates 6.5 million euros for the protection of the Amazon in an ambitious three-year project with Conservation International. This initiative aims to implement sustainability measures in six key South American countries.
Inditex invests 6.5 million in six Amazonian countries
The plan aims to protect more than two million hectares of tropical forests, addressing the restoration of degraded areas and strengthening indigenous reserves essential to counteract climate change.
With this program, it is expected to reduce deforestation, which has already destroyed 15% of the surface of this vital ecosystem. Additionally, the preservation of water resources and biodiversity in these regions will be ensured.
This collaboration reinforces the environmental commitment of the textile giant, which has already carried out recovery projects in the Himalayas. Executives from both organizations highlight the urgent need to finance the restoration of these ecosystems.
During the period 2026-2028, interventions will be carried out in Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Suriname, in order to ensure the sustainability of the forests and assist local communities.
The project will include efforts in areas such as Cué-Cué and Marabitanas in Brazil, as well as the Achuar Nationality in Ecuador, among others.
