To compensate for marine pollution, artificial reefs are created

“We transform gray spaces into blue oases.” This is the philosophy behind Ocean Ecostructures, a project born in Barcelona whose objective is to reverse the marine pollution caused by humans, regenerating life and biodiversity through innovative and pioneering technologies worldwide.

Innovative Project and Recognitions

Initiated in 2021, this initiative has received international recognition and has been selected to regenerate marine fauna in the largest civil work constructed in Europe.

The idea is to replicate natural reefs in concrete and other materials infrastructures in the sea, multiplying biodiversity by six. They have managed to recover the seahorse in the port of Palamós using unique technology.

Regeneration of Marine Ecosystems

Ocean Ecostructures has replicated the functioning of a natural reef in a compact structure that can be placed on any marine infrastructure, from oil platforms to wind farms.

These artificial reefs regenerate life and improve water quality by generating oxygen, using unique technology and materials in the patent process.

Combating Greenwashing and Marine Pollution

The added value of Ocean Ecostructures goes beyond the regeneration of maritime spaces. They have developed robotic technology and underwater drones to monitor the reefs, collect data on the regeneration of life, calculate the biomass generated, and the CO₂ absorbed.

All managed through artificial intelligence, which allows customers to demonstrate the positive impact of their infrastructure and combat greenwashing with real data. “This is what makes us unique,” emphasizes Ignasi Ferrer.

This revolutionary project born in Barcelona aspires to transform and recover life in the seas, making human development compatible with marine biodiversity. Ignasi Ferrer concludes with a final message: “Concern and awareness about the state of the sea are growing, but we are far from where we should be.”
