Renault Argentina announced a reduction of up to 24% in the price of its electric cars, affecting the Kwid E-Tech and Mégane E-Tech models.
This reduction was officially communicated during an exhibition at the Parque de la Innovación in Buenos Aires.
New Prices and Possible Reasons
Changes in the prices of electric cars in Argentina were implemented starting from early November.
MODEL | INTRODUCTORY PRICE | NEW PRICE | VARIATION |
Renault Mégane E-Tech | 71,000,000 pesos (April 2024) | 53,910,000 pesos (November 2024) | -24.07% |
Renault Kwid E-Tech | 27,880,000 pesos (February 2024) | 25,450,000 pesos (November 2024) | -8.71% |
Although the brand did not specify the reasons for this price reduction, it is suggested that it could be due to low demand and the emergence of strong competition, especially from electric models imported from China, such as the Skywell ET5 and the Volvo EX30.
Price Increase in the Kangoo E-Tech
In contrast, the price of Renault’s third electric model in Argentina, the Kangoo E-Tech, has increased since its launch last June. This model remains unchallenged in its segment.
Registrations
In October, new car registrations reached 44,126 units, 5.2% more than in the same month of 2023 and 1% more than in September, when 43,680 units were registered, as reported by the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (Acara).
In this context of sales recovery, the market becomes slightly more competitive and encourages automakers to fight for their positioning with price reductions or improvements in financing plans.
