Thanks to a report and an incriminating video, the provincial authorities rescued an abused howler monkey in Santa Cruz. They found it in poor health, as reported, and two people were arrested for illegal possession.
It happened in the town of Las Heras. On Tuesday, the images of the animal reached the hands of the Zoonosis authorities and led to a report to the Local Court of Offenses in the town.

After the report was filed, the corresponding search warrant was issued to search a home in the Las Américas neighborhood.
During the operation, carried out on Wednesday, the authorities found that the 40-year-old woman and the 43-year-old man had under their roof the animal named “Yeico“.
The specimen belongs to a species native to the jungle areas of South America and is protected by conservation laws.
Yeico, with black fur, in the images that were circulated was in the arms of the detained woman, who was smoking while answering questions.
Two people were arrested for possessing the monkey.
After the rescue, the municipal Zoonosis took charge of its care. The team, specialized in animal handling, is taking care of it while evaluating its transfer to a habitat suitable for its natural needs.
