No more solar panels? Energy generated with the Moon.

While solar energy is recognized for its caloric power and wide presence, scientists went further in renewables. They managed to generate energy with the Moon.

They did it through a sphere that captures the light emitted by the planet’s natural satellite. It is called Rawlemon and can be up to 70% more efficient than panels.

Rawlemon: energy with the Moon

In truth, this invention consists of another way to harness the energy of the Sun. Rawlemon is a sphere-shaped lens that generates energy from this star.

It has a system of concentration and amplification of solar rays that can be up to 70% more efficient than conventional panels.

According to its creator, solar spheres are the most important innovation in the sector since the appearance of photovoltaic panels.

The product consists of a transparent glass ball designed by the German architect André Broessel, who began working on this project in 2016.

He always had in mind that he wanted to conquer a more efficient solar energy at a lower cost. That is, a technology within everyone’s reach, regardless of location.

How does the sphere that “captures” lunar energy work?

The sphere is filled with water that magnifies the Sun’s rays by more than 10,000 times. With this process, it is possible to produce energy from the Moon or even from the Sun on cloudy days.

It contains tiny photovoltaic panels located directly under the sphere, where a magnified beam of light reaches. They claim to achieve up to 70% more efficiency than a conventional panel.

Now, the company is adapting the system so that it can also be used in building windows, designed to replace traditional glazing.

Furthermore, as a key point in its favor, Rowlemon only uses glass, water, and tiny panels, along with positioning software.

Why could it replace solar panels?

The sphere acts as a kind of magnifying glass. It concentrates the light passing through it and the liquid inside, projecting the rays onto cells located at the base.

In other words, it offers a more economical system than solar energy generated by panels, to which people are accustomed. Also, the difference in space required to place it is essential compared to the huge devices.

Thus, it saves 75% of surface area and provides 35% more efficiency.
