Wildfire in Chubut: the fire reached a wind farm
Concern grew further when the flames crossed the road, forcing National Roadworks to close the road for several hours.
The fire rapidly advanced due to the presence of a north-south wind and reached the Loma Blanca wind farm in the area. This was confirmed by Diego Núñez de la Rosa, press officer for the Puerto Madryn Volunteer Fire Department, in an interview with FM El Chubut.

He also stated that due to this situation, they had to evacuate the transformer substation located west of the road. “It was evacuated in the early morning, the fire passed by the side and the premises, without vegetation, acted as a firebreak,” he said.
The fire has been contained
During Friday morning, the Puerto Madryn Volunteer Fire Department confirmed that the fire that broke out days ago between Trelew and Madryn was under control.
This was achieved after intense work carried out on Thursday and thanks to an improvement in weather conditions.

Regarding the causes of the incident, he emphasized in the same interview that “no work has been done on this” yet. As the initial actions are aimed at containing the flames, stressing that “the causes will be subject to subsequent investigation.”
Finally, he requested those who need to travel on the road to do so with caution and respect the instructions of the personnel in charge of traffic management.
