## Monitoring and increased sightings
According to the **Minister of Tourism of Puerto Madryn, Cecilia Pavia**, whale sightings **have been constant over the last month**, becoming more frequent in recent weeks.
This phenomenon indicates that the cetaceans **are arriving in the gulf to reproduce and give birth**, reaffirming the importance of this area as a **natural sanctuary**.
The **ICB** conducts **aerial monitoring** and land observations from strategic points such as **Playa Las Canteras and El Doradillo** with the aim of identifying **new specimens and studying the behavior of the whales**.
## Official start of the whale watching season
The Ministry of Tourism and Protected Areas of Chubut will open the **whale watching season** in the **Golfo Nuevo** starting on June 10.
Specialized companies in **Puerto Pirámides** already have authorization to conduct excursions and have announced a special **2×1 promotion for Chubut residents**, available from June 10 to July 10.
## Guarantee of sightings and tourist events
The confirmation of the first birth reinforces the expectations of a successful season, ensuring that those who visit the gulf will have **guaranteed sightings**.
“With whales already present in the Golfo Nuevo, we know that the show is guaranteed,” highlighted **Pavia**.
The start of the season will be celebrated with the opening of a boutique hotel in **Puerto Pirámides**, marking the beginning of the **2025 whale season**.
